Director of the ALBA Synchrotron since 2012, the largest scientific infrastructure in Spain, where matter is studied to address key challenges in health and sustainability. Under her leadership, ALBA has become an internationally recognized multidisciplinary facility and has begun its transition toward ALBA II, a fourth-generation light source set to begin operation in 2032. An experimental physicist and particle accelerator specialist, she worked at CERN in Geneva and at LNF-INFN in Rome. She has chaired the League of European Accelerator-based Photon Sources (LEAPS) and advises major research centers such as CERN, DESY, and SLAC. She has been honored with the Narcís Monturiol Medal and the Order of the Star of Italy.
